For the Feline with Finer Tastes: Art Scratching Posts

News Category:

Posted on April 17, 2016: Is your kitty not interested in the regular, old scratching posts? Are you worried that scratching up every piece of furniture in your house is not keeping your indoor tiger entertained?

Does your feline have fine tastes?

Copycat Art ScratchpostsThen, you need to get him/her the Copycat Art Scratcher! Developed by Studio Erik Stehman in The Netherlands, these classy little toys are imitations of priceless works of art such a Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, but serve the function of scratching posts for your cat. “Why are scratching posts only designed to be fun for cats? It remains a challenge for me to find solutions for that, so that these products also offer fun for humans. When my cats attacked an embroidered painting at home, I was able to see the humor in it, resulting in the idea for the Copycat Art Scratcher. After much investigation, we have found a technique to copy masterpieces onto sisal, resulting in a painting allowed to be scratched,” the studio says on their website.

The painting posts are made of embroidered twine, much like regular non-masterpiece scratching posts. The idea is to make scratching posts appealing to both the cat and the human being.

They also make specialty £669 (approx. Rs 63,000) polyester-and-sisal DOG scratching post for cats to vent their frustrations out on their arch nemesis. “The 'DOG Scratchpost for cats' is a scratchpost for cats, with a good dose of humor. Not only does DOG protect your furniture from cat scratching, but it is also THE way for cats to release their frustrations on their "natural enemy"! During a time consuming process every inch of rope is glued to the base, resulting in a scratch post with a very long lifespan,” the studio explains.

Pretty penny

While it is cheaper than your cat shredding an actual masterpiece, Copycat Art Scratchers are not cheap in any regard. At £169 or approximately Rs 16,000, these are some expensive toys for the truly pampered puss. Available to be shipped worldwide from May 2016, the Copycat Art Scratchers will soon be available for wholesale purchase on luxury pet products website Lord Lou.
